Yesterday, in a Pennsylvania district that Trump carried by 15 points, Democrat James Malone won a special election for the state Senate. It’s a district that hasn’t sent a Democrat to the chamber in four decades. And yet, Malone won by staying focused on real issues—like education and veterans’ benefits—and by calling out people like Musk for slashing services working families rely on.

That victory came just days after another Democrat won a special election in a district outside Pittsburgh, restoring a Democratic majority in the state House.

These are the kinds of wins that weren’t supposed to happen—especially not in deep-red places. But they did. Because organizing works. Talking to voters works. And when the stakes are clear, people show up.
