Breaking News! Prez Trump Signs EO to Preserve and Protect Election Integrity March 25, 2035 Election integrity groups were swooning with accolades today after President Donald Trump issued a comprehensive Executive Order that puts proof of citizenship front and center in federal voter registration. The EO arrives as the House of Representatives is preparing to vote on major reform to the National Voter Registration Act with HR 22, called the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act. (SAVE Act) The SAVE Act requires proof of citizenship to register for federal elections and directs agencies to work with states to help them verify citizenship. Like the EO issued today, the SAVE Act represents a long-overdue reform of NVRA, especially its “Motor Voter” provisions that, in many states, automatically register individuals who transact with their states’ Dept. of Motor Vehicles.
