I was proud of George’s win back in November. He was one of just a handful of Democrats who flipped Republican-held seats in a tough election year.

He did it as a true advocate for our community – as someone who served as NASA Chief of Staff under Obama where he received its highest award for distinguished service. As someone who created hundreds of jobs in the Antelope Valley, founded an organization focused on wildfire research, and did it all as a devoted husband and father.

I’m even more proud of the swift action he’s taken in his first months in the House. Days after he was sworn in, Southern California faced the worst wildfires in its history – and George was immediately back in our area advocating for aid.

Looking forward, this seat is one of the few that can decide House control in next year’s midterm elections – and with it, Democrats are much more likely to win the majority and provide real oversight to this administration.

It’s why George is already on the receiving end of Republican attacks, and why national Democrats have named CA-27 to their Frontline program to help protect the most vulnerable incumbents.

And it’s why Monday’s FEC quarterly deadline is key. George’s fundraising numbers will be public for everyone from our allies to our opponents to see.
