3 Ways to Manage Skyrocketing US Electricity Demand ( [link removed] )
*******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Electricity demand is surging across the U.S. for the first time in decades, thanks to new data centers, electric vehicle use and other emerging energy needs. Much of the boom is linked to positive changes, like increased manufacturing and cleaner buildings and transportation. But it’s also raised the specter of higher electricity costs and expanded fossil fuel use, as well as challenges for the country’s aging grid infrastructure.
WRI experts break down what’s driving this demand, how it could affect consumers, and what policymakers, regulators and utilities can do to better manage load growth while keeping power reliable, clean and affordable.

By the Numbers: The Climate Action We Need This Decade ( [link removed] )
***********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
The latest global climate report ( [link removed] ) paints a grim picture: The world warmed faster than expected in 2023 and 2024, with greenhouse gases, air and ocean temperatures, and sea-level rise all hitting dangerous new records. But it also reaffirms that global temperature goals aren’t yet out of reach. WRI research shows what countries must achieve within the next decade to keep a safe future in sight.

Smarter Ways to Measure Heat ( [link removed] )
**************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Extreme heat is on the rise, but Fahrenheit and Celsius don’t tell the full story. More important is how people feel when they go outside, which is affected not just by temperature, but also humidity, air flow, the built environment and more. Metrics that account for these factors can lead to smarter solutions for keeping people cool in a warming world.

How Philanthropy Can Help Close the Adaptation Finance Gap ( [link removed] )
**************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
Philanthropists give between $9.9-$16.4 billion annually for climate change solutions, but only about 3%-6% of this is destined for adaptation. Philanthropy could play a much bigger role in climate resilience efforts — especially in developing countries where funds are needed most.

Borrowing money to invest in clean energy is costly for most developing countries compared to Europe or the U.S.
One solution? Public-private partnerships.
