John,

Welcome to the latest edition of Emily’s Notes — updates from Washington’s 6th and Washington, D.C.!

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

• Town hall blitz — I’ve hosted town halls in Tacoma, Bremerton, Port Angeles, and Aberdeen (whew!), and I’ve been blown away by the turnout. The crowd was so large for our Bremerton event that we decided to hold two town halls back-to-back AND we made national news. [[link removed]]

Between our five town halls, I’ve had the opportunity to see more than 3,000 constituents in person! Thank you to my wonderful team and venue staff for making all this possible. (And look out for events in Mason and Jefferson Counties soon! Be sure you’re signed up for the official newsletter at randall.house.gov to be the first to hear when and where.)

Meanwhile, my Republican colleagues are under strict orders from D.C. leadership NOT to hold public town halls — which is why Democrats have launched People’s Town Halls [[link removed]] in Republican districts across the country. If they won’t show up and listen to the people, we will.

• I voted NO — I joined all but one of my House Democratic colleagues in voting NO on the continuing resolution [[link removed]] that opens the door to steep Medicaid cuts and even MORE unchecked power for Trump and Elon Musk.

We hoped that Senate Democrats would stand firm against this measure — and Washington’s Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell did! But ten Senate Democrats joined Republicans to advance this disastrous budget. I posted a video on Instagram about that decision and what comes next. [[link removed]]

• Fighting for a progressive vision — Say hello to the newest member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus! [[link removed]] I’m proud to fight for regular working people with some of the boldest and bravest voices in Congress, like Jasmine Crockett and Chair Greg Casar.

• A time for Pride — Finally, I’m excited to serve as the grand marshal of the Seattle Pride Parade! [[link removed]] This means a lot to me, particularly this year. I work in the same building as politicians who are not only stoking fear against the LGBTQ+ community but making Congress a hostile work environment [[link removed]] for queer people. We must show support for queer kids and their families in every way we can — whether that’s speaking on the House floor or expressing joy and unabashed pride in our streets.

Now, this is the part where I ask for a donation.

Over the course of meeting thousands of my constituents at town halls, one clear message was that we need to be more aggressive in confronting the unprecedented corruption and destruction of the Trump-Musk administration.

There are ways we can work inside Congress to push back — but there are even more things we can do OUTSIDE Congress. That’s why I’m “adopting" a swing district and hiring a full-time political staffer to organize outside the halls of Congress.

Your donation today of $25 or any amount to our We Can’t Wait grassroots fund will fuel this organizing and put us in the strongest possible position to take back the House. Our goal is to raise $10,000 by the end of the month — can you chip in now? [[link removed]]

CONTRIBUTE [[link removed]]

If you can’t donate today, that’s okay! Email your friends, share our videos on social media, and take care of yourself and each other.

Thank you for everything you do 💙
