Dear Jack,

The NC Values team has been hard at work since before the start of North Carolina’s long legislative session, advancing key bills that uphold the pro-life, pro-family, and pro-freedom values you care about. Thanks to your continued support, we’ve been able to advocate for policies that protect vulnerable children, safeguard parental rights, and preserve the dignity and safety of women.

We’re excited to share with you that our hard work is beginning to bear fruit. Recently, four important pro-values bills have been introduced in the NC House or Senate.

Here are these four critical pieces of legislation that need your support: ([link removed])

Women’s Safety and Protection Act ([link removed])

(SB 516)

This common-sense bill defines “male,” “female,” “man,” “woman,” and “sex” by biology in North Carolina law and protects women and girls by ensuring that private spaces—such as restrooms, changing facilities, and sleeping quarters within a prison, local confinement facility, domestic violence center, rape crisis center, juvenile detention facility, or public school, remain single-sex. We offer our sincere gratitude to Senators Vickie Sawyer and Brad Overcash for sponsoring the bill.

The Parents Protection Act ([link removed])

(SB 442)

This essential bill shields parents from losing custody of their children simply for raising their child consistent with their biological sex and refusing to affirm their child’s harmful gender identity. It reinforces a parent’s fundamental right to make medical decisions aligned with their beliefs and their child’s best interests. The bill also prohibits making prospective parents’ affirmation of gender identity a litmus test for adoption or foster care. We offer our sincere gratitude to Senators Jim Burgin, Benton Sawrey, and Amy Galey for sponsoring the bill.

Parents Medical Bill of Rights ([link removed])

(HB 519/SB 759)

This bill aims to restore parental authority in North Carolina by requiring parental consent for minors to receive treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, substance abuse, and emotional disturbances. These bills follow the recent Happel v. Guilford County Board of Education NC Supreme Court decision affirming parents’ constitutional right to direct their children’s medical decisions. We are grateful for House sponsors Reps. Jennifer Balkcom, Donnie Loftis, Larry Potts, and Heather Rhyne and Senate sponsors Sens. Jim Burgin, Benton Sawrey, and Dana Jones.

Baby Box Bill ([link removed])

(HB 139/SB 91)

This life-saving bill expands North Carolina’s Safe Surrender Law by allowing anonymous infant surrender through baby boxes. It ensures that desperate mothers have a safe, anonymous option to protect their babies from abandonment. We offer our sincere gratitude to Representatives Jennifer Balkcom, Ray Pickett, Larry Potts, and Bill Ward for sponsoring the House bill and Senators Bobby Hanig, Carl Ford, and Ted Alexander for sponsoring the Senate Bill.

In addition to advocating for these bills in person at the General Assembly, we also develop tools that help you get your pro-values voices heard. We’ve recently made it easier than ever to contact your state senators and representatives and ask them to support these critical bills. You can also now use the page’s bill tracker to follow these bills throughout the legislative process.

Finally, would you consider partnering with us to support our important legislative work? Advocating in person and developing these types of tools takes a lot of time and resources. If you believe in what we’re doing this legislative session and want to help defend life, family, and freedom in North Carolina, would you consider making a one-time ([link removed]) or monthly donation ([link removed]) today?
