Dear John,

Something deeply troubling is coming to Kansas—and faithful Christians are preparing to respond with prayer and courage.

Representative Bill Rhiley (R-Wellington), during the Tuesday online prayer meeting of the National Association of Christian Lawmakers, shared disturbing news: a Black Mass—a ritualistic mockery of the Catholic Mass, often involving explicit desecration—is scheduled to take place at the Kansas State Capitol.

Governor Laura Kelly has rightly banned the ritual from taking place inside the building. However, word has gotten out that internal communications suggest that organizers of the Black Mass still intend to enter the Capitol and carry it out anyway.

This is not merely a matter of "religious freedom." A Black Mass is not a harmless ceremony—it is a blasphemous and spiritually dangerous act that invites darkness where truth and justice should reign.

In response, Christians from across the nation will gather at the Capitol to lift the name of Jesus Christ in prayer and public witness.

If you live in or near Kansas, I urge you please go and stand with the Christians who gather and pray.

Be a visible testimony to the power of the Gospel and the presence of God.

As Jesus said in Matthew 5:14–16, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden… let your light shine before others.”

I will not be able to attend personally—I’ll be at a family funeral that same day—but I will be praying.

And if you, like me, cannot attend in person, I ask you to join me in praying for Kansas and her Capitol:

  • Pray for the safety of those who are gathering in faith.

  • Pray for the spiritual protection of the Capitol grounds.

  • And most importantly, pray for the salvation of those preparing to participate in this ritual. No one is beyond the reach of God’s grace.

This is a moment of spiritual consequence for our country. Please share this message with anyone you know in Kansas. Let the body of Christ rise and bear witness to the truth.

In faith and truth,

Anna Derbyshire
