John — Our entire country is hurting following the deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and so many others at the hands of the police. I join you in feeling this pain.
Police brutality has led to far too many deaths in our country, particularly of people of color, and far too little justice has followed. This pattern must end. Each of us has an active role to play right now to ensure that real changes are made.
That’s why I’m co-sponsoring a House resolution introduced by Ayanna Pressley to condemn police brutality and call for reforms — and why I’m asking you to urge your representatives to add their support. John, please take two minutes to call your representative now and urge them to co-sponsor this resolution >>
This resolution led by Representatives Ayanna Pressley, Ilhan Omar, Karen Bass, and Barbara Lee urges Congress to condemn police brutality, racial profiling, and use of excessive force, and calls for the adoption of reforms and policies on all levels of government to end these injustices.
There is no one-step solution to fixing the many broken pieces of our justice system, but we must start with demanding accountability and justice.
People across our country have marched to call for change and an end to the injustices of police brutality — including right here in Irvine.
Thank you for taking action today,
Katie
