Make March Matter is our annual fundraising effort that brings together donors like you and numerous business partners across Southern California to raise funds and awareness for children's health. When Sam was born at just 29 weeks and under 2 pounds, his airway was virtually closed shut. The opening was no bigger than a pinhole, preventing him from breathing. At birth, he was intubated and put on a ventilator, which sustained him until he was strong enough for surgery.

Thankfully, Sam was cared for by a world-class team of specialists at CHLA who saved his life. In a delicate and complex operation, a multidisciplinary group of physicians rebuilt Sam's airway--and today he is a thriving 6-year-old thanks to the lifesaving care he received.
