TURNER - The Maine Department of Transportation will be reconstructing the intersection of Route 219, Route 4, Bear Pond Road, and Howe's Corner Road in Turner.
This project will convert the current roadway configuration from a skewed, four-way intersection into two, three-legged intersections. This area is a high-crash location. The work will simplify turning and crossing by reconfiguring Route 219 and realigning roadways. See map of proposed work. On-site construction activities are scheduled to begin Monday, March 31st. During construction, traffic on Route 219 will be restricted to a single lane of alternating traffic. Route 4 will have one lane maintained in both directions, but may be restricted to a single lane of alternating traffic, depending on where crews need to position equipment and barriers for safety. Work will occur between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on weekdays. No weekend work is planned. The work is anticipated to be completed in October of this year. The contractor on this project is Gendron & Gendron of Lewiston. The contract amount is $2.8 million.
