John,
Another abortion case is heading to SCOTUS—but you may not have heard anything about it yet.
Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic (formerly Kerr v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic), seeks to block Medicaid patients from receiving care at Planned Parenthood.
Federal law plainly dictates that Medicaid patients may access care with any qualified provider, but anti-choice politicians are trying to change that.
This case threatens to impact not just Planned Parenthood patients, but ALL Medicaid patients, because it attacks the federal law allowing patients to choose their providers.
Attacks on abortion have cascading consequences.
In addition to the devastating reports of patient deaths, rising rates of sepsis in pregnant patients, and infant mortality rates, abortion restrictions have impacted our entire healthcare system. Maternity wards have closed, OB-GYN shortages have grown, and the wait times for reproductive healthcare appointments have increased.
And now, MAGA attacks on abortion providers threaten the future care of all Medicaid patients, proving just how far these extremists are willing to go in their ongoing attacks on our rights.
We’re proud to stand with Planned Parenthood, and with the state and local leaders who are fighting for Medicaid patients and continuing to make healthcare more accessible in our communities.
A world with reproductive freedom is one in which we can all access the care we need when we need it, regardless of geography or income. Thank you for being part of the fight to realize that vision.
With gratitude,
Team Vote Pro-Choice
