LOGO [[link removed]]Hi John,

So this just happened. After weeks of promising to meet for the first televised debate, Sara Gideon, the DSCC candidate, is now refusing to participate. At a time of unprecedented turmoil in our country, Sara has decided it is a good campaign strategy to not answer questions or appear with the other candidates in a ranked-choice election. Maine deserves a campaign that includes an exchange of ideas on how best to help Mainers and get us through these difficult days. And it deserves all the candidates running for Senate to show up.

For the next 24 hours, we’re asking every supporter to contribute $6.08 – or whatever you can afford – to show Sara she needs to attend the debate on June 8th! [[link removed]]

The debate on Monday was scheduled weeks ago. A virtual forum televised on Channel 6, it would allow all the Democratic candidates – Betsy, Sara Gideon, and Bre Kidman – to answer questions about the serious issues facing Mainers. The debate will still go on, but now without Sara.

Contribute today and then watch Betsy on Monday evening at 7pm: [[link removed]]If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

It’s hard to know why Sara is not showing up – either she is dismissive of us, or doesn’t want to talk about her position on the issues. And maybe this is why – last week, polling came back that showed a majority of Mainers backed Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. Betsy is the only candidate in this race who supports these issues AND can beat Susan Collins – in fact Betsy was ahead of Collins in that same poll!

Over and over again Susan Collins has refused to hold open, unscripted town hall meetings to discuss hard issues with Mainers. It’s essential that we Democrats choose a candidate to face Susan Collins who doesn’t have the same track record of limiting input from citizens and an open exchange of ideas.

Not showing up is NOT a winning strategy. Contribute today so Betsy Sweet can take on and beat Susan Collins! [[link removed]]

Thank you for your continued support!

Let’s do it!
