Glebe Road beginning April 23rd and ending May 14th. Register Now We are so excited to provide an opportunity for people to learn about a topic that is deeply connected to Arlington Community Foundation's key programmatic priorities. Additionally, we want it to serve as further education of those who have already been alongside us for parts of this journey and want to learn more. Borrowing heavily from the work of Matthew Desmond in his book Poverty, By America, this course will examine economic disparities both in Arlington and nationwide. We will start with the data on poverty in Arlington, including differences based on neighborhoods and demographics, and examine how lack of truly affordable housing, childcare, and living wages affect the overall health of our community. We will then explore why Arlington Community Foundation sees this displacement of our lowest-income neighbors as the greatest threat to our community’s health and viability. This class will be held in person, but a virtual option will be available for those who need it for one or more sessions. If you anticipate needing to attend virtually for one or more sessions, please contact [email protected] to let us know. Space is limited.
