Vitalii has been working in Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)’s early rehabilitation project in Ukraine for over a year. As a clinical neuropsychologist and postgraduate student, he provides care to patients with severe psychological conditions and people suffering from intense pain.
“Our goal is to stabilize patients’ conditions, help them adapt, reduce psychotraumatic factors, and assist them in planning their futures. We also engage in psycho-correctional work for symptoms like sleep disorders, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and intense pain,” he says.
Following up with patients after discharge is one of the most challenging aspects of his work. “It’s crucial to stay connected with patients after treatment ends. The greatest success is when a patient has high rehabilitation potential, a desire to live, and goals to pursue.”
We’re able to respond in Ukraine and deliver high-quality care to patients thanks to supporters like you and the work of staff like Vitalii. Power our teams of doctors, nurses, specialists, and more as they work to save lives in more than 70 countries at a moment when your generosity can go three times as far.

South Sudan has been grappling with an outbreak of cholera since October 2024. When MSF opened the Cholera Treatment Center (CTC) in Assosa, South Sudan, Achol was one of the people recruited to support the cholera response in her community.
Achol is from Assosa. A single mother to four children between 11 and 14 years old, she normally earns money by collecting firewood and then bringing it to the market to sell.
Her role at the CTC is simple but vital: She disinfects the shoes of people entering and exiting the center with chlorinated water to prevent the spread of cholera through residues in the soil.
Eighty-two percent of MSF staff are locally hired, meaning they come from the very communities they work within. Every day, they provide vital medical care to people in more than 70 countries around the world. Help ensure our teams can continue to save lives by making a triple-matched gift today.

As a water sanitation and hygiene manager with MSF, Janson Lubera Fwatano leads the team that provides clean water and sanitation for displaced communities in Goma, North Kivu, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Janson and his team address the essential needs of the community, focusing on the urgent requirement for safe water and hygiene to mitigate health risks.
The escalation of violence between pro-government forces and M23 rebel forces in North Kivu has caused new, large-scale displacement across the province, with the number of people displaced increasing from 340,000 in December 2023 to more than 600,000 as of June 2024.
MSF continues to provide displaced people with critical care in DRC and beyond. When you give during our match campaign, your gift will go three times as far for people in need. Make your 3X-matched gift today and help ensure our local teams around the world have what they need to provide vital medical care.
P.S. If your gift and our email have crossed paths, we sincerely thank you for your generosity!

All gifts given, up to $500,000, will be tripled through midnight on Monday, March 31—thanks to a generous matching grant from Worthington & Margaret Mayo-Smith. Gifts received after the match has been met will not be matched but will be used where needed most. |
