Trump Signs Memorandum to Declassify FBI Files Related to Russia Investigation

Formal name: “Crossfire Hurricane.” Townhall: President Donald Trump has ordered the FBI to declassify documents related to the “Crossfire Hurricane” Russia investigation in a bold move aimed at increasing transparency and holding the deep state accountable. This order comes after years of speculation and concern over the biased and politically motivated origins of the probe, which many conservatives argue was a coordinated effort to undermine his presidency. By pushing for the release of these documents, Trump is demanding the truth be exposed, shedding light on the questionable tactics used by federal agencies to pursue a baseless narrative. On Tuesday, Trump issued an executive order requiring the FBI to declassify documents related to the investigation it launched in 2016. The probe was focused on whether members of Trump’s campaign colluded with Russia during the presidential election (Townhall). CNN Analyst Notes Overall Approval of Trump’s Policies
Mediaite: CNN senior data reporter Harry Enten noted on Tuesday that the percentage of Americans who believe the country is “on the right track” is through the roof despite President Donald Trump’s negative net favorability rating. On Tuesday, Enten reported that Americans who believe the country is on the right track is surging under Trump. Enten cited polls from Marist and NBC News, which showed that 45% and 44% think the country is on the right track, respectively. The reporter argued that historically speaking, this is a surge. “It’s actually a very high percentage when you compare it to some historical numbers. What are we talking about? According to Marist, 45% say that we’re on the right track. That’s the second highest that Marist has measured since 2009. How about NBC News? 44%? That’s the highest since 2004,” Enten said. If Trump were eligible to run for president again, the data reporter added, these numbers would be a positive argument for reelection (Mediaite). Colin Rugg: CNN’s Harry Enten disproves the media narrative that Trump supporters are regretting their votes, says Trump is *more* popular now than when he won the election. Another media narrative destroyed (X).

Fox News: Delegations from Russia and Ukraine on Tuesday agreed to a ceasefire in the Black Sea following talks with Trump administration officials this week in Saudi Arabia. “The United States and Russia have agreed to ensure safe navigation, eliminate the use of force, and prevent the use of commercial vessels for military purposes in the Black Sea,” the White House said in a statement following talks in Jeddah (Fox News). New York Post: The new deal would open up the Black Sea for Ukraine’s grain export, as well as Russia’s profitable grain and fertilizer exports. Zelensky has previously said he is willing to adhere to any limited cease-fire deal so long as Russia commits to it. Columbia University Faculty Members Upset With for Trump Protecting Jewish Students
Wall Street Journal: Columbia University interim president Katrina Armstrong met with anxious faculty over the weekend in an effort to generate support, warn of the jeopardy the school faces and play down concerns that the deal the school cut with the government on Friday undermined its academic independence. In meetings with about 75 faculty leaders, Armstrong and her team said six federal agencies are investigating the school and could pull all federal support from it. The Trump administration has already canceled $400 million in grants and contracts over concerns Columbia failed to protect Jewish students from harassment…Arts and social sciences professors worry more about ceding independence to Trump, suffering reputational damage and not yielding to what they perceive as an authoritarian erosion of civil liberties. Some criticized Armstrong for not taking a harder line with President Trump (Wall Street Journal). President of RealClearPolitics Tom Bevan: One Columbia professor characterized the Trump admin’s efforts to use the threat of pulling federal funding to force the university to protect Jewish students from harassment as “the biggest crisis since the founding of the republic” (X).
