Familia,
Yesterday, we learned that the three officers who stood by while Derek Chauvin killed George Floyd have been charged with aiding and abetting murder, and that warrants for their arrest have been issued.
Nothing can bring back George -- or any of the many Black Llives that have been lost to police violence -- but I'm hopeful that these charges are the beginning of a process that will bring about justice for hisGeorge's friends, family, and his community.
As for the rest of our society, we have a long way to go to prove that #BlackLivesMatter.
But familia -- I have hope. We're all inspired by the protests and activism we've seen in every state in the nation over the past two weeks. And if people of good conscience continue speaking out and fighting for justice, this moment might be the first step to bringing about real change.
Here at Battleground Texas, we're going to continue our work -- registering as many voters as humanly possible between now and Election Day -- because we know the sooner our elected leaders reflect our communities and our values, the better off we all will be.
And, we're asking everyone in our movement to: Show. Up. Attend the peaceful protests (if you're able to safely do so) happening in your neighborhood. Organize your own. Engage with your community and your legislators and demand change. Use your voice wherever and however you can.
Give what you can. Whether or not you are able to join a protest, please donate to the bail bond funds set up for protestors in Texas right now:
