John, the recent decision to halt some U.S. foreign aid funding for humanitarian assistance programs is having life or death consequences for children across the globe.
In a world where 1 in 5 children lives in conflict zones — and 1 in 11 needs humanitarian assistance — every single dollar counts in the race to save children’s lives.
As funding is slashed, the action and generosity of supporters like you are critical to ensuring that life saving aid assistance can keep flowing. For many children, this is a lifeline and their best chance for survival.
Cai’sha* holds her son, Abdi*, while he is treated for severe acute malnutrition at a Save the Children clinic in Somalia.
Save the Children works in partnership with communities to deliver lifesaving programs focused on children’s health, education and protection – in the U.S. and around the world.
These programs are critical to the survival of children like 1-year-old Abdi in Somalia, who was suffering from severe acute malnutrition. Abdi’s mother, Cai’sha, was a farmer, but severe drought forced them to move to town. With few opportunities to find work, the family had little to eat.
Cai’sha brought Abdi to a Save the Children clinic when he began running a fever and had diarrhea. The staff treated him with emergency fluids through a nasal tube, and he was given milk, food and medicine. After a few days, he began to stabilize.
Thank you for showing up for children in this urgent moment of need,
Save the Children
