Last night, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin gutted legislation that would guarantee Virginians’ right to access contraception and birth control.
After the Dobbs decision, we’ve seen politicians throughout the South attempt to not only outlaw abortion but go even further to also restrict birth control and outlaw emergency contraception. Here in Virginia, we remain the only state in the South that hasn’t further restricted women’s reproductive freedom in any way—and that is only thanks to our Democratic-held General Assembly.
Virginians deserve a Governor who will defend their reproductive freedoms, and make no mistake, my Republican opponent has stated she would support abortion bans similar to those passed in other states. She even cast the tie-breaking vote against the Right to Contraception Act in her capacity as Lt. Governor.
Democratic Governors throughout the country have become the first line of defense in protecting reproductive rights, and when this legislation comes across my desk as Governor, I will sign the Right to Contraception Act into law.
But I need your help to get there. Will you contribute to my campaign so we can flip this seat blue and protect reproductive rights across the Commonwealth?
