Hello, everyone. This journey has come to a close.

Tuesday night was difficult; there's no other way to put it. As a team, we left everything on the field. You called, texted, emailed, tweeted, and even shouted from cars. I'm humbled by the degree of your support, and the level of your commitment to our cause.

And, let's be clear, we made an impact. What was supposed to be a runaway race, predetermined a year in advance became threatened by our persistent issues-based messaging. Only an onslaught of outside funding turned the tide, and we fell short.

I was the last to join the race, but we finished a strong second with the most cherished endorsements in the state. Nearly 10 million dollars -- ten times our overall budget and over twenty-five times our advertising budget -- was used to beat our message. We lost in the TV markets, pounded by one side, but unaffordable for us. Regardless, the strength of our campaign has received rave reviews. We can stand tall.

Now the important part. I centered my campaign around responsible leadership and a visionary future for every Iowan and this nation. There is no room for grudges, no space for spite, and no tolerance for tribalism. We carry on!

No matter how crestfallen you are, this is time to hold your head high, confident that we will be back. Our mission is to defeat Joni Ernst.
