Enough is enough, John.
Trump must resign. In a moment of crisis, Trump chose to fan the flames of violence and use lethal force to demonstrate his power. He gave the command to attack our communities with tear gas, rubber bullets, and troops.
We believe there is only one appropriate response to this desperate moment our country faces. That’s why we’ve joined with the Movement for Black Lives to demand Trump’s resignation. So far we’ve collected over thousands of signatures, but we haven’t gotten yours yet, John.
It’s critical we show mass public support for Trump’s resignation and defend Black lives. We will not tolerate Trump’s racism and authoritarian rule.
Can you please add your name to our Demand Trump to Resign petition before midnight tonight? It’d be great if we could get more signatures from District of Columbia so we can show how big our movement is.
For the past week, Trump has given a green light to police and militias to beat, maim, and kill people with impunity. He is even using the Insurrection Act of 1807 to direct the use of force against civilians, our friends and neighbors, to maintain his hold on power.
Throughout history these executive powers have been used to quell Black-led protests in the name of racism and authoritarianism.
He has threatened all of us, our constitution, and our democracy that was built from peaceful resistance and freedom of assembly. Therefore the strongest response must be taken.
Calling Trump to resign is a bold action – but it is the only appropriate response to the situation we’re facing along with mass protest which we’re seeing across the country.
We’re asking you to make it clear where you stand at this key mark in history. Will you join us and add your name so that our collective voices are recorded in the annals of history?
This may sound unrealistic or exaggerated, but it’s not. We know that all of our lives are on the line. We know that Black lives are on the line. Trump sees the power we have, and in order to maintain the status-quo, he will take any measures necessary no matter how violent. We are all in danger.
Do not be mistaken, this is not just symbolic. We know that if enough people rise up, we can force Trump to resign. We’ve seen that mass protests and people-powered movements make change happen.
We must respond with equal weight and call for the immediate resignation of the President. Add your name to signal that you’re with us and ready to defend Black lives.
We know the world we need to build. One that can finally move away from decades of police brutality that has taken countless lives and torn families apart in every community.
With resolve,
Women’s March Team
