As we went into the second day of early voting, Josh Weil, the Democratic nominee for the April 1st special election in Florida’s 6th Congressional District, has taken a shocking lead over his GOP opponent.
This is an R+14-district which means that the GOP traditionally holds a 14-point advantage here. But as of yesterday, with early voting and vote-by-mail numbers in, more Democrats have cast ballots than Republicans:
What was once seen as a safe deep red Republican seat is now in serious jeopardy. Democrats, Republicans, and independent voters alike are delivering a shocking rebuke of Randy Fine—a bigoted ultra MAGA casino exec who has taken to calling Josh, “Jihad-Josh”, and doesn't even live in the district.
Events for Fine - a campaign Facebook page, shows attendance of less than two dozen people at his rallies. Social media is packed with posts from Republicans saying they're either voting for the Democrat or writing in another name rather than supporting Fine. On top of this independent voters overwhelmingly favor Josh.
It is a perfect storm. Democrats could pull off the miracle in Florida’s 6th.
