When I first ran for office, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. As an out gay, Asian American candidate, I faced challenges that many LGBTQ+ leaders encounter: doubts from political insiders, barriers to fundraising, and the weight of being one of the few representing our community. But I also knew this: real change happens when we have a seat at the table.
During my time in the California State Legislature, I fought for policies that protect and empower our communities, like AB 884, which expanded language accessibility for voting and elections communications, and stood up against extremist attacks on trans youth. I didn’t just advocate for change. I made it happen. And now, I want to help you do the same.
