Hey team! It’s Bob — Mad’s older brother. I wanted to reach out because of this administration's incessant attacks on public education. A matter that is extremely close to everyone here in the Dean family, but especially to Mad.
Mad started her career as a lawyer and loved helping people, but quickly turned to education and became a Professor of Writing and Ethics at her alma mater (La Salle University). Aside from being a Congresswoman (of course), this was her favorite job. She cares deeply about the development of future generations through our public education system.
And with the news that Trump signed an executive order to dismantle the Department of Education — Mad is furious, worried, and most importantly, she’s fighting back.
Check out recent media hits and see what Mad has to say on the Department of Education…
Mad on Trump’s Unlawful DOE Order

Mad released a scathing statement condemning Trump’s executive order to dismantle the Department of Education. Calling the order “a direct attack on our children, their families, and their right to a quality education.” Read more here.

“I come from a family of educators. I taught in higher ed for 10 years. The classroom is one of the most joyous, inspiring places to be. This Admin has little respect for the work of our students, teachers, and staff. By choking federal resources from our schools and generating confusion, President Trump is jeopardizing our children’s future — and the future of our nation.” — Madeleine Dean

Mad joined MSNBC to discuss the implications, cruelty, and unlawfulness of Trump’s attempt to dismantle the Department of Education. Watch the full interview here.

“Trump’s continuing what we’ve seen since being inaugurated. Which is a dizzying, disruptive set of motions. The point of which is the chaos and the fear. I have never seen my phones ringing off the hook with a universal cry from my constituents saying ‘What is this administration doing’... They want to reduce the education of our citizens so they can control thought. Democrats are unified to stand against this — I will be there.” — Madeleine Dean

I’m a proud big brother (and constituent!) of such a strong fighter and voice.
Mad will always fight to make sure our families’ needs are met. The Department of Education and the continuing safety, learning, and growth of our future generations are on the line, and she will not stop fighting.
Thank you for following Mad’s work,
Bob
