Leadership

Greetings, readers!

This week’s Leadership newsletter comes with a bit of personal news: By the time you read this, I will be out on parental leave! But rest assured, NPQ’s managing editor, Coty Poynter, will oversee the newsletter until I return.

Excited and fortunate as I find myself, it is still a distinctly unsettling time to be (temporarily) turning attention away from the nonprofit sector. In the few months since Trump took office, we’ve seen escalating attempts to discredit journalism, a crucial resource that builds power and resistance under authoritarian regimes; the continued throttling of federal funds to nonprofits, impacting their ability to support the communities they serve; and an ominous executive memo threatening nonprofits that “undermine the national interest,” though data show how entwined nonprofits are in nearly all aspects of American life

These challenges—and the sector’s absolute vitalness to our society—are all the more reason we need to continue building community, sharing ideas, and standing up for our work. And our webinar on March 27 at 2:00 pm ET speaks to how organizations can partner to respond to threats and meet community needs, should you feel so inclined.

As always, we welcome feedback. Please feel free to email us at [email protected]. I’ll see you soon.

Leadership Editor, NPQ
