SAM has had an incredibly impactful six months. A recent Reuters article ([link removed]) —written by attorneys sympathetic to the marijuana industry—documents the growing retreat from marijuana legalization and efforts to roll back regulations. Despite their clear bias, even they had to acknowledge the role SAM has played in shifting the national conversation.

This recognition underscores the momentum we have built in pushing back against the industry’s false promises and highlighting the real harms of legalization. Our work is making a difference, and we will continue fighting for policies that put public health and safety first.

They highlighted SAM as “one of the most prominent anti-legalization groups in the country” in recognition of our recent successes. While this does not fully capture our advocacy for a smart, science-based approach—one that rejects both commercialization and criminalization—we appreciate the acknowledgment of our impact.
