I take my marching orders from the people of Maryland’s Second District. They are my boss.
That’s why, just 10 weeks into this Congressional session, I’ve already hosted or attended four town hall meetings with more on the way. It’s a precedent I set as Baltimore County Executive, when I hosted a series of town hall meetings every budget season.
These meetings aren’t so my constituents can hear from me. It’s so I can hear from them.
We are not just bearing witness to the real-time destruction of democracy under the Trump Administration – we’re experiencing it. And I’ve been incredibly inspired by the willingness of my constituents to share their stories from the frontlines. Adult children who rely on Medicaid to care for ailing parents. Long-time federal employees who have been laid off. Farmers who have been denied grant funding they were promised.
