NBWA Releases Beer Purchasers' Index for May 2020

The National Beer Wholesalers Association released the Beer Purchasers' Index (BPI) for May 2020. The total BPI for May rebounded to 66 after falling to 35 in April. The May 2020 reading stands four points higher than the May 2019 reading of 62. This is the most significant single monthly swing the Total Beer Index has ever recorded.

Giglio Distributing Company donates $20,000 to local food bank

Giglio Distributing Company, a beer distributor in Texas, recently donated $20,000 to the Southeast Texas Food Bank. The food bank says it relies on the community's help to feed those who do not have enough to eat, and it is grateful for the support from Giglio Distributing.

Cracker Barrel testing alcohol sales

Like many restaurants, Cracker Barrel is slowly reopening its dining rooms. Though they expect sales to be a bit unpredictable for a while, they plan to combat that by testing a beer and wine program along with new menu items.

Food Lion acquiring 62 grocery stores

Grocery chain Food Lion is planning to acquire 46 Bi-Lo and 16 Harveys Supermarket stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia from Southeastern Grocers (SEG). The transactions for the stores will be complete over a period from January to April 2021.
