John, this attack is just one in a line of many in a Trump admin hell-bent on denying reality.
This Trump administration is shaping up to be worse than the last time around. In his first term, Trump pulled out of the Paris Climate Accords – just like he did this time. What’s new in Trump 2.0 is that this time, they’re not even allowing scientists to do their jobs.
It would be difficult to overstate the repercussions of preventing scientists from participating in the IPCC. It is the backbone of global climate science; its reports are produced by thousands of scientists and are used by policymakers around the world.
NASA’s chief scientist was scheduled to co-chair the international meeting, but with the Trump administration’s stop-work order, the panel’s work is now in limbo. Instead of leading on the global stage, the United States is falling behind and dragging the rest of the world with it.
It doesn’t have to be like this. While Trump has been doing his best to strip away environmental protections, our SEEC members have been fighting back. But in order to win, we need to elect a new slate of climate champions to Congress who will fight for our environment in 2026. Will you send a donation to SEEC PAC so that we can have an America that believes in science again?
Thank you for your support,
–Team SEEC PAC
