Tell Congress to protect federal nutrition programs like SNAP to ensure millions of kids get the meals they need to thrive.
John, with the federal budget process currently underway, we needed to share an urgent update: Right now, Congress is threatening serious cuts to federal nutrition programs, including SNAP, WIC and school meals.
Programs like SNAP help families who are at risk of hunger — ensuring children grow up healthy and equipped with the resources they need to break the cycle of poverty. But with these proposed cuts, millions of kids could lose access to the very support that helps them thrive.
The potential cuts would affect more than 17 million children who receive food assistance through SNAP. Additionally, 12 million children would be at risk of losing access to free school meals. These cuts alongside other policy changes could also have a harmful effect on Summer EBT — threatening access to summer meals for 31 million children.
Our team at No Kid Hungry immediately mobilized to advocate for Congress to protect SNAP and make sure children and their families continue to get access to the consistent nutrition they need. But as we work tirelessly to ramp up pressure on Congress, we need as many members of this community to add their voices with ours.
That’s why we’re urging 1,000 supporters like you to reach out to your member of Congress right now and ask them to protect federal nutrition programs like SNAP that tens of millions of families and children rely on.
