There’s an education crisis in rural America, and we don’t talk about it enough. 

• Literacy rates are declining in some communities, with nearly 70% of U.S. third graders unable to read proficiently.
• 4.5 million rural children don’t have access to after-school programs, and 2.9 million miss out on summer programs.  
• Just 20% of rural adults have a bachelor’s degree, limiting their job opportunities and income potential. 

Despite the facts, federal support for rural schools is facing uncertainty – when clearly, we should be PROTECTING it.   

Now more than ever, kids need Congress to step up. Tell them to protect essential education programs!

Schools rely on federal support to function, especially in under-resourced communities. Without it, many will be forced to shut down after-school, summer, counseling and parent support services. 

It'll drastically widen the gap between wealthy and low-income students, destroying children’s chances of escaping poverty and achieving their dreams.  

John, disrupting federal education programs will fundamentally change the way our most vulnerable kids learn. Please, urge Congress to say NO!
