Dear Friend,
Nearly 1,000 Kentuckians faced an empty chair [[link removed]] labeled "Reserved for Congressman Andy Barr" at the Kentucky Theatre this weekend.
It tells you everything you need to know about the Republican Party.
While Andy Barr was absent, hundreds of veterans, parents, and seniors shared how GOP cuts to Medicare, SNAP, and veterans' health care would harm them. This pattern repeats across Kentucky, as constituents visit the offices of Reps. Barr, Comer, Massie, Rogers, and Guthrie only to find offices with no congressmen.
Meanwhile, Kentucky's sole Democratic Congressman Morgan McGarvey has held multiple town halls across his district, talking to hundreds of people. This past Saturday, he was at the Parkland Library taking questions directly from the people he serves.
Democrats are showing up. Republicans are running away.
Tonight, Andy Barr is holding a hastily arranged telephone town hall that's barely been advertised. You have to call his office to register, and good luck finding the information online. It's almost like he doesn't want you there.
We have a better alternative. This Wednesday at the Lyric Theatre in Lexington, the Kentucky Democratic Party and former Congressman John Yarmuth are hosting a real in-person town hall. No hiding behind telephone lines, just face-to-face accountability. Click here [[link removed]] for more details.
Your contribution today [[link removed]] — whether it's $10, $25, or whatever you can afford — will help us organize more town halls, amplify constituent voices, and elect Democrats who believe representatives should actually represent the people.
As Republicans push through $880 billion in Medicare and SNAP cuts and eliminate thousands of VA jobs, they're hoping you'll stay quiet. They're counting on you giving up when they refuse to show their faces.
Let's prove them wrong. Let's build a Kentucky where elected officials answer to the people, not unelected billionaires like Elon Musk.
With determination,
Colmon Elridge
Kentucky Democratic Party Chair
P.S. Even if you can't donate right now [[link removed]] , please join us this Wednesday at the Lyric Theatre at 6 PM. When the KY GOP won't listen to the people, we'll create spaces where your voice matters.
