On Thursday, we faced Trump’s latest assault on our education system: He signed an executive order that aims to completely ABOLISH the Department of Education.

Dismantling the Department of Education would be a nightmare for our students and educators — taking away funding from schools in rural and low-income areas, increasing class sizes and laying off hardworking teachers.

Now, it comes down to Congress. Trump himself said, “I hope they’re going to be voting for it,” and Senate Republicans are preparing legislation to shut it down “as soon as possible.”

I pledge to filibuster any legislation that attempts to shutter the Department of Education.

So I’m asking you to quickly sign our petition to stand with Democrats and OPPOSE Republicans shutting down the Department of Education. We need 25,000 signatures by midnight to show the widespread support for our students and educators.
