Here are nine reasons not to miss this epic event!
Hear from a powerful speaker lineup featuring: Former US Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland, a member of the Pueblo of Laguna, candidate for governor of New Mexico, and a longtime advocate for justice and the environment. Filmmaker Mark Titus [[link removed]], a Seattle-based writer, director, and producer with The Turn, a film on salmon’s value to us all.
Get plugged into WCA’s work to create a free-flowing lower Snake River. Removing the four lower Snake River dams is essential to restore salmon populations, transition to clean energy, honor Tribal treaty obligations, and save the beloved Southern Resident orcas who rely on Columbia River Basin salmon.
Be reminded of what we're fighting for. Get inspired by a beautiful, panoramic view of Puget Sound and Mt. Tahoma from the venue's rooftop deck on a clear day.
Share a meal with the community. Enjoy delicious appetizers and dinner served during the program.
Raise a toast with a fun signature cocktail or mocktail! Then take a vacation from your New Year’s resolutions at a post-program dessert bar.
Channel your inner artiste. Contribute to a collaborative art installation.
Connect and network with the community. Mingle with old friends and meet new ones. We need each other more than ever right now!
Forget the doom-scrolling. The best way to sustain our movement and make progress is by doing it together. Join the fight for environmental justice.
Raise a paddle! Support our work to protect people and nature as one. I'm in! Reserve my spot. [[link removed]]
More details about our guest speakers:
Secretary Haaland, a longtime advocate for environmental justice and racial equity, gave up a seat in Congress to serve at the Department of the Interior in the Biden Administration. As interior secretary, she delivered big wins in conservation and made historic progress toward addressing the wrongs against Tribes and Indigenous peoples in the United States. Last week, she announced her candidacy for Governor of New Mexico.
Mark Titus [[link removed]], a Seattle-based writer, director, and producer of All Our Relations: Tribute to the Orca. In 2014, Mr. Titus released The Breach – an award-winning feature documentary about wild salmon. He followed that in 2020 with The Wild, a feature documentary which examines the fate of Bristol Bay, Alaska through the lens of addiction and recovery. The Turn, the third film in his salmon trilogy, is scheduled to premiere in 2026.
