‌‌‌‌‌Bremerton Town Hall [[link removed]]

John,

So far this month, I’ve heard from roughly 3,000 constituents at five town halls.

Here are two points I heard over and over:

1. Trump and Musk’s destruction of our public services, international alliances, and economy is a threat unlike anything we’ve seen before.

2. Democrats in Congress aren’t doing enough.

I wanted to let you know that I hear you — loud and clear.

I take the threats of the Trump administration very seriously. My mom is a paraeducator. My dad was a veteran and a federal employee at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. My sister relied on Medicaid her whole life. I represent over 27,000 federal workers whose jobs are on Elon Musk’s chopping block.

But as angry as I am, I’m also a pragmatist — which means recognizing what I can do IN Congress and what has to happen OUTSIDE Congress.

In Congress, my Democratic colleagues and I meet, write letters, and use parliamentary procedure to fight against the worst of the Trump-Musk agenda. It’s slow, deliberative work that doesn’t make flashy headlines. I understand if it feels insufficient in this moment.

That’s why this will take ALL of us — not just Congress. We all have a part to play in defending our rights, protecting our communities, and restoring our democracy.

So, here are a few things I’m doing OUTSIDE Congress as a candidate, citizen, and organizer:

1. I’m adopting a swing district! Starting immediately, we will direct our grassroots energy from Washington’s 6th District to Arizona’s 6th District. The Republican incumbent, Juan Ciscomani, has voted in lockstep with Trump and Musk, even though he won by only 2.5% in 2024 and only 1.5% in 2022. I’m very excited about this new effort — stay tuned for more updates!

2. I’m hiring a Political Director. There are limits to what Congressional staff can do politically since they are paid by your tax dollars (yes, we care about ethics!). So, our campaign is hiring a new staffer to work outside the halls of Congress to strengthen our organizing locally and in our adopted swing district.

3. I’m exploring holding events outside the district. Democrats are planning People’s Town Halls [[link removed]] in districts where Republican representatives refuse to hold public events. I’m working with DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene and other colleagues to determine my role in this new project.

Now, this is the part where I ask you for a donation.

These political initiatives cost money, so I’m launching a new We Can’t Wait fund to fuel grassroots organizing locally, support our adopted swing district, and put pressure on Republicans in every way we can.

During the 2024 campaign, I bet on our powerhouse team of grassroots donors again and again — and you ALWAYS delivered. I know that together, we can meet whatever challenge the Trump administration throws at us.

Can you chip in $6 or any amount to support our organizing in the 6th District and beyond? [[link removed]]
