Dear Colleague,

This week we report that the United States took the bold step of “breaking silence” on a resolution at the General Assembly that threatened to insinuate abortion as life-saving humanitarian assistance in response to the coronavirus pandemic. But the presiding chair, Morocco, disregarded U.S. objections and the outcome is still unfolding. Stefano Gennarini, J.D., reports.

Our president, Austin Ruse, reports on a missive from a UN expert seeking to ban talk therapy around the world for those seeking to get rid of unwanted sexual desires.

President Trump announced he will remove the U.S. from the World Health Organization. WHO reform is long overdue. We hope the Agency’s abortion promotion is part of that reform before the relationship with the U.S. is restored. Stefano reports on Turtle Bay.

C-Fam’s next webinar on the state of play on the pro-life cause at the UN will take place on Wednesday, June 17. More information to follow.

Stay well. Spread the word.

Yours sincerely,

Lisa Correnti
Executive Vice President

Should the U.S. Withdraw from the WHO?

by Stefano Gennarini, J.D.

President Trump’s announcement that the U.S. will withdraw from the World Health Organization seems to have caught the entire world off guard. But the surprise and consternation is not justified. Nor are the cries that the U.S. must at all costs stay part of the World Health Organization. The picture is more complex than many commentators are acknowledging. Read more >>
