Capture the Flag

This famous children’s game originated on the deadliest of battlefields.

In the Civil War soldiers that were able to capture the flag or save their own were awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. It designated when the battle was over, who won and who lost.

Again, that fight has left the children’s playground and entered real politics. The only difference being that the teams have the same flag.

This can be confusing and only unconfused if one team has more flags than the other.

And one team does.

In often tawdry displays some brandish the flag in such angry, hate-contorted fashion one wonders do they even like Americans, have they never uttered these words:

“I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: One nation, under God, indivisible and with liberty and justice for all.”
