America is facing a reckoning on the issue of racial injustice. The good news is that one of the country’s most powerful forces is leading the fight for justice.
The NAACP Legal Defense Fund is the historic organization whose legal campaign against segregation gave America the Brown v. Board of Education decision -- and their work since has helped solidify civil rights gains throughout the decades.
After the violent murder of Eric Garner, the NAACP LDF focused its work more specifically on guarding Americans of color from police brutality. Their Policing Reform Campaign was born the year after Garner’s death and continues to fight for justice in cases of police killings of innocent Black Americans.
Recently, their team has been on the ground in Minnesota -- building a coalition with community leaders and advocates, demanding better of elected officials, and exploring all the legal avenues possible for making codified progress even as a nation reels in pain.
If history is any guide, the LDF will succeed -- and so will their mission to bring racial justice to America. But they can do more with your support.
