Dear Friend,
Nearly 1 in 4 Americans say that they didn’t fill a prescription in the last 12 months because they can’t afford it. Meanwhile the pharmaceutical corporations are raking in billions in profits. They are literally spending millions on lobbyists and campaign contributions to fend off proposals that will make drugs affordable for all of us.
It’s high time that our legislators put the interest of patients ahead of corporate greed. That’s why Alliance members are teaming up with allies from other organizations for a National Day of Action to Put Patients over Pharma Profits.
There will be events in 30 states and Alliance members will deliver “prescriptions for lower drug prices” to their senators and members of Congress. We must DEMAND that strong, meaningful legislation to lower drug prices be a top priority when Congress returns to Washington next month.
The American people want action. Congress should enact legislation to:
- Allow Medicare to negotiate prices
- Remove provisions in the NAFTA 2.0 trade agreement that lock in high prices
- Allow importation of lower priced drugs from countries with high safety standards
- Get lower priced generic drugs to market faster
Thanks for all you do.
