OK Republicans Cheer on Trump & McMahon's Suplex of US Dept. of Education

Last week Co-President Trump ordered his Education Secretary to wind down the US Dept. of Education. And Oklahoma Republicans are cheering him on.

You would think that Oklahoma's elected officials would stand up for the Dept. of Education. Oklahoma students benefit disproportionately from federal dollars distributed to our schools to ensure quality access to students with disabilities and students from poorer households. And the Department of Education has long worked to protect the Civil Rights of students at public schools around the country.

Instead, they're screaming from the stands egging the Trump administration on.

Honestly, it doesn't surprise me that Governor Stitt, who has sent tens of millions of our hard-earned tax dollars to private schools in unaccountable handouts to the rich, is celebrating the end of the Department of Education.

But you'll note that even Republicans who say they support strong public schools are rushing to praise and parrot MAGA extremism.

Here's AG Drummond sucking up to Trump.

If Drummond wants to talk about regaining control of public education in Oklahoma, there's exactly one place he should look -- inside his own party! 

He ought to look at the Governor who was investigated for misspending public funds. Along with his Superintendent who has been sued by the press, is being sued by the Ethics Commission, and who has never been held to account for promoting conspiracy theories that led to a wave of bomb threats against Oklahoma's students.

It is clear that Drummond isn't running to actually lead this great state. Instead, he's eager to cheer from the sidelines like he's at a fake fight while Co-Presidents Musk & Trump tear apart our government.

Unfortunately, despite being led by fake-wrestler Linda McMahon, this isn't a fake fight. We are in a very real contest to shape the future of our democracy. 

I'm glad my fellow Oklahoma Democrats realize this. I'm glad they're volunteering, like the dozens of Oklahoma Democrats who spent their weekend dialing into a battleground district in Florida that will shape control of the US House. I'm glad they're stepping up to run in special elections for our State Legislature.

I hope you'll join us in this fight as we race to elect strong Democrats that will put Oklahomans ahead of billionaires.
