** Illicit teak gets in via Europe’s back door ([link removed])

Our Forest Campaigns latest investigation reveals how some of Europe’s top timber traders are circumventing EU regulations to acquire valuable Myanmar teak via Croatia. They are exploiting two loopholes in the legislation to get their hands on illicit supplies of the ‘King of Woods’ for high paying clients to use for luxury products in the marine sector, such as superyacht decking. In our report, The Croatian Connection Exposed: Importing illicit Myanmar teak through Europe’s back door, we named the timber firms involved.

** Victory for UK Ivory Act in appeal hearing! ([link removed])

The UK's Court of Appeal has upheld the Ivory Act 2019, dismissing an appeal brought by a group of antiques dealers whose judicial review claim had previously been dismissed by the High Court. Four judges have now decided the Act is proportionate and lawful.
