John --

Before the most recent murders of Tony McDade, George Floyd, Dreasjon Reed, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, Eric Logan was killed in South Bend, Indiana. Around this same time, South Bend’s mayor ran for President of the United States -- catapulting the town, Eric Logan, and BLM organizers into the national spotlight.

In May, our managing director, Kailee Scales, sat down with South Bend organizers for an episode of BLM’s Webseries, What Matters. Together, they discussed Eric Logan, his life and his murder, how it changed the South Bend community, and their demands for action -- including the call for Mayor Pete Buttigieg to resign.

As cities across the country rise up and give voice to the pain of what is happening in our communities, it is more important than ever to learn from our community organizers who work tirelessly to disrupt and transform the broken systems that take our lives and leave us behind.

South Bend has been fighting for justice -- and we join them in the call for transformation. Tune in to the latest episode of What Matters on Spotify, Instagram TV, YouTube, Apple Podcasts, or BlackLiveMatter.com/WhatMatters -- and share it to amplify OUR voices and further the fight for justice.

Last year, #EricLogan became a hashtag. Last month, #BreonnaTaylor and #AhmaudArbery became hashtags. Last week, yet another hashtag filled our social media timelines, #GeorgeFloyd.

Now, more than ever, we need to share OUR stories -- and today, we’re sharing the efforts of our South Bend chapter to bring justice in light of the most recent death of Eric Long. Listen to these stories and learn from OUR struggles. Click here to watch the latest episode of What Matters now and subscribe.

Thank you for tuning in, standing up, and speaking out for justice.

In love and solidarity,
