![]() I get asked all the time why I initially ran for Congress. “Congress is a mess! Why would you want to go there?” I get it. It’s a fair question. I wanted to reach out, personally, to explain exactly why I ran for Congress in the first place and why I’m running for re-election now. If you don’t have time to read the rest of my note (that’s okay!), can I count on you to pitch in a few dollars to our grassroots campaign? I ran for Congress because, like many of you, I want my children to inherit a better world than the one I grew up in. You see, my mom first encouraged me to run for office saying "If your generation doesn't stand up and fight, we stand to lose the progress my generation worked for." She was right. It’s on us to ensure the next generation has access to quality education, affordable housing, and good-paying jobs. I ran for Congress because I believe all hardworking American families deserve the opportunity to get ahead. I grew up in a working-class family. Both of my parents were teachers and there were times when it felt impossible to get ahead. I know a lot of families today can relate. I ran for Congress because the American people deserve a House Majority dedicated to placing people over politics. House Republicans have turned their back on this community to support Donald Trump and Elon Musk's dangerous power grabs. We need leaders in the Majority who will stand up to far-right extremists, and deliver meaningful change for families across Oregon. With Donald Trump and Elon Musk undermining our nation’s very foundation every day, our fight is far from over. The work continues every day. That’s why I’m running for re-election. Will you make a donation to my re-election campaign today to help me fight for a better world, expand opportunity for all, and ensure Democrats can take back the House Majority from MAGA Republicans next year?
Thank you. It’s an honor to be in this together. Janelle |
