Dear John,

Stepping into cultivating your Local Peace Economy can feel overwhelming. We often hear people shrug their shoulders and say, “Where do I even start?” The War Economy creates misery that can overwhelm and disempower even the most committed of us.

The Local Peace Economy grows by small acts of connection between community members. The proximity can be next-door-neighbors sharing resources with each other, or it can be more complex, like a large city initiative starting a tool lending library. But the “peace” part of any LPE project rests on the simple act of one person inviting another person (or people) into a shared space to create something together in a way that builds connection, trust, and interdependence and breaks the addictions the war economy forces on us.

Mother’s Day is a Mother’s call for Peace and this year CODEPINK's local activists are going to bring the message of peace through an event on Mother’s Day that embodies the peace economy.

Howe

To prepare for this upcoming Mother's Day project, we are inviting local CODEPINK chapters doing great LPE work to our next Local Peace Economy gathering. Join us on Wednesday, March 26th at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT as we hear from some of our regional organizers about some simple projects that have connected them to their communities, built trust, and helped them celebrate their interdependence, neighbor to neighbor. Our hope is that you will feel inspired to create simple Peace Economy projects in your own communities in conjunction with the Mother's Day initiative in May.
