Solidarity and Support
Fawcett condemns police brutality against Black communities in the US and we stand in solidarity with Black people all over the world to demand justice for George Floyd. As we work towards our mission to achieve equality for women in all their diversity, we emphasise the need to continually listen, learn and reflect so we can work together to build a fully inclusive and intersectional feminist movement.

We urge you to support organisations doing vital work on the ground to support and amplify the voices of Black communities in the UK, including:
For more organisations to get involved with or donate to, we recommend this extensive list of resources on supporting Black Lives Matter. It also includes a template for writing to your MP as well as articles and books that provide in-depth information and deeper discussions on racial inequality. Thank you to Priscilla, Fawcett’s Interim Communications Manager, for sharing this list of Black bookshops and publishers that you can support right now.
Exiting Lockdown

As the UK Government moves towards lifting the coronavirus lockdown, we are concerned that gendered perspectives are being missed. The lack of women in the Government's decision-making risks worsening the existing inequalities and undermines a successful transition out of lockdown. We are calling for the Government to:

  • Make test, track and trace work for women
  • Support care infrastructure
  • Support parents
  • Not leave the vulnerable behind
  • Improve women’s representation in decision-making
