How to talk to children about what’s happening in our society today? That has to be near the top-of-mind for most parents right now. This is a good time for family devotions that include some discussion in age-appropriate ways. It’s a time to answer questions openly and honestly—and from a biblical perspective. Perhaps begin with the Golden Rule—“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Follow that up with the truth of Creation—that God created humans, and every one of us bears His image which means all people are to be treated with dignity and respect.
The horrific death of George Floyd and the destruction of property and harming of innocent people that has followed is hard for all of us to grapple with—and it’s hard to shelter children from the news these days. Our prayer is parents will use this difficult time in our nation’s history to help their children learn, at a minimum, that truly all lives are valuable and worthy of our protection and God is no respecter of persons.
SIDE NOTE: Here are two helpful articles on this issue for parents/pastors/everyone to read: One is by Pastor Jason Wredberg, “
Please Lord, Teach Us To Love”, and the other is by Phillip Holmes, “
We Need To Be Uncomfortable.” They are brief but well-written. We encourage you to read them both!
Pregnancy Centers Engaging Fathers, Saving Lives
From Pregnancy Help News, "Nearly one in four children in America live without a father, according to the
National Fatherhood Initiative. This lack of a dad in the lives of American kids translates into numerous behavioral and societal problems, including a four-fold increase in the risk of poverty."
Fatherlessness is a very real problem in America, translating into numerous behavioral and societal problems, including a four-fold increase in the risk of poverty. A group of pregnancy centers in Missouri is tackling the absent father issue and seeing success in saving lives and families. Rachel House Pregnancy Resource Centers engaged directly with nearly four hundred seventy men last year. Since these interactions began nearly three years ago, Rachel House has experienced a significant increase in decisions to choose life for an unborn baby.

WI Supreme Court To Take Up Voter Registration Case
"The Wisconsin Supreme Court announced Monday it agreed to hear a lawsuit attempting to force the Wisconsin Elections Commission to remove voter registrations of people the state has identified as having moved.
"The lawsuit, Zignego v. Wisconsin Elections Commission, is being pursued by the Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty (WILL) on behalf of three Wisconsin voters."
...
"Wisconsin, like 28 other states, uses a system known as the Electronic Registration Information Center (ERIC) to identify when a voter conducts an official government transaction using an address different than their voter registration address.
"After an Election Commission review, a notice is sent out to the “movers” asking them to verify their address, which they must do so within 30 days. The Election Commission sent out notices last October to 234,000 voters, but decided not to act on the removal of non-responders until after the 2020 election."

Julaine Appling, WFA president, says, "With the State Elections Commission having decided recently to mail all registered voters in the state an absentee ballot application for this fall’s election, this case is especially important. In order for fair elections to take place, we need to do everything we can to reduce fraud. Cleaning up the voter registration rolls is critical. I hope the court moves quickly on this matter."

Victory for Female Athletes!
From LifeSite News:
"The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has determined that Connecticut’s policy allowing boys who identify as girls to compete in girl’s sports violates the civil rights of female athletes.
"The OCR’s decision was delivered in a 45-page letter of impending enforcement action following a months-long investigation into the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) and several Connecticut school districts."

Julaine Appling, WFA president, says, "This is certainly an encouraging decision from the Department of Education. Every school district is either facing this issue already or will be. Wisconsin interscholastic athletics are governed by WIAA, and those policies allow a boy to participate on a girls’ teams if the boy has been taking hormones for a certain amount of time, which adds yet another layer of concern, since these treatments come with a number of side effects for young people."
