Charges resume for on street parking but not for keyworkers

*"A Message from City Council Leader, Cllr David Mellen:"*

Cllr David Mellen, leader of Nottingham City Council

As we start to cautiously make way our forward to the new normal, one change is the resumption of charging for on-street car parking [ [link removed] ] from Monday. We made on-street parking free from the end of March to support the pandemic response; enabling people who absolutely needed to travel into the city, including key workers, to do so safely and to reduce the need to use scaled-down public transport services.

Nottingham is one of the last remaining towns and cities locally to reinstate parking charges as lockdown restrictions ease. As more traffic returns to our roads and the city centre we have to be able to manage increased demand for parking spaces in order to keep the city moving smoothly during this period.

Im really pleased that we have been able to continue the on-street free parking offer for key workers while they carry out essential work - to find if you qualify to apply please contact [email protected].

*The Robin Hood Fund supports Nottinghams food emergency *

Robin Hood Statue

20,000 of donations to the Robin Hood Fund in addition to a further 9,000 from Nottingham City Council will be used to support more than 40 food banks and social eating projects. This will see Fare Share double the volume of food provided to all the organisations across the city that it already works with and enable them to support any new organisations seeking help.

I would like to give my wholehearted thanks to everyone who has donated to the Robin Hood Fund. This new initiative provides vital funding to not only increase the amount of food available, but improve the infrastructure needed to support the effort including vehicles and drivers, the delivery of pre-cooked meals and new operational measures to adhere to social distancing.

With vulnerable people across Nottingham still in need of support during this crisis, The Robin Hood Fund is committed to continuing its efforts to raise funds that can help those most in need. If you can, please donate [link removed] [ [link removed] ]

*Standing up for Nottingham people*

As a council, we are still asking the Government to meet our Covid costs. We are committed to supporting the people in our city but the scale of the challenge facing councils makes it clear that adequately supporting local councils during this time is vitally important. I want to reassure Nottingham people that we will continue to lobby Government on behalf of our residents, our fantastic workers and businesses to provide sufficient financial support to cover additional costs throughout this national crisis.
