Last weekend, I stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few items, including a dozen eggs. When I checked out at the cash register, I did a double-take at the price: a dozen ordinary Grade AA eggs cost me $10.99!

Here’s the thing: our nation’s poultry farmers are facing a worsening crisis as bird flu spreads unchecked. And the Trump administration seems to be asleep at the wheel β€” shutting down key communications from the FDA, and providing zero leadership on an issue impacting our farms and families.

From the past couple months, it seems that this administration’s economic agenda essentially boils down to higher prices for American families and tax breaks for the extremely wealthy. On top of all that, President Trump just announced hefty new tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and Chinaβ€”imposing 25% duties on Canadian and Mexican exports, and a 10% levy on Chinese goods. Canada has already hit back with retaliatory tariffs of 25% on $155 billion worth of U.S. products, escalating an unnecessary trade dispute. These tariffs threaten critical industriesβ€”from automotives and semiconductor firms to consumer goods, basic materials, and green energyβ€”leading to even higher costs for everyday Americans. We need an administration that addresses urgent crisesβ€”from the bird flu outbreak to soaring grocery pricesβ€”with real leadership.
