Subject: Our water is on the line
|
John, Tomorrow is World Water Day, and our water is on the line. Just this week, the Trump administration announced plans to fire over 1,000 scientists from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) – a devastating blow to the agency’s ability to protect our water, our health, and our environment. This is all part of the Musk-Trump regime’s plan to eliminate, dismantle, and weaken hard-fought, decades-old, basic water protections. They’re allowing corporations to pollute our water, canceling critical federal support for clean water projects, and forcing families to pay higher bills for less safe water. John, we’re fighting back – but we need your help! Will you help us reach our goal of 100 donors to ensure everyone can access clean, affordable water? Your special World Water Day gift will be MATCHED to defend this basic human right – and any amount makes an impact!

The United States is one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Yet even despite that, millions of people across the country lack access to clean, safe drinking water – one of the most basic, fundamental human rights. We’re facing nothing short of a public health crisis. Fossil fuel corporations and industrial agriculture are polluting our water, while unaffordable rate hikes and crumbling infrastructure drive water shutoffs impacting millions of families. Now the Trump administration wants to make the crisis even worse by slashing funding for critical water programs in the budget. Food & Water Watch is fighting back on multiple fronts. Right now, we’re working with allies and activists (like you!) across the country to: Block attempts to gut the EPA, one of the key government agencies responsible for ensuring the water we all depend on is safe, clean, and accessible. Demand that our Representatives protect the Lead Out of Water Rule, which protects kids from toxic lead service lines. Defend against efforts to roll back historic regulations against toxic PFAS forever chemicals from our water. Urge seven Governors to sign a petition to the EPA that would require the monitoring of microplastics in our water. Stop cuts to water funding and financing in the current budget bill moving through Congress that local governments need to improve critical water infrastructure to keep our communities safe.
Together, we know that we can hold the line and fight back with all we’ve got to protect our essential resources. Your gift today will strengthen our guard against every possible rollback to our water protections and provide the resources needed to bring our demands to the halls of Congress and the courts. Are you ready to advocate for clean water for all, John? Make your World Water Day gift today, and it will be DOUBLED!
