Hi friend --
President Barack Obama has offered a nation ravaged by pandemic and protest words of comfort and hope -- as well a clear path forward toward lasting change.
In his recent statement, Obama began by praising activists in the streets, saying, "The overwhelming majority of participants have been peaceful, courageous, responsible, and inspiring. They deserve our respect and support, not condemnation."
Obama also condemned violence for violence's sake -- encouraging demonstrators to model the kind of behavior they want to see.
The former president concluded his remarks with a roadmap toward a better future and made it clear that he doesn't see a choice between protest and politics -- he wants Americans to choose both and to learn how to best organize themselves so they can be heard in society and at the ballot box. It's the kind of rhetoric Americans haven't heard in a while.
While Obama is telling Americans to protest and to vote, Trump is making it harder for Americans to do either. Which vision for the country appeals more to you? Tell us:
