Last night, Donald Trump issued an executive order to dismantle the
Department of Education.
Closing the Department of Education would require an act of Congress, but
already the impact of the announcement is being felt across the country.
The administration’s crusade against public education is nothing new.
Trump and his GOP cronies are attacking public education to divert
essential resources from students, teachers, families, and communities to
fund tax breaks for the ultra-rich.
This reckless act threatens the quality of education for children in every
community — whether rural, urban, or suburban.
And that's not all,

Nearly half of the department’s staff have been fired — a blatant attack
on public servants who work to ensure our students have the resources and
support they need to thrive.
We refuse to take this lying down. Right now, we should be investing in
our children’s future — not robbing them of the education they deserve.
